The Regional Media Officer Freetown East (DSP) Edward Senise yesterday Tuesday 31st January 2023, disclosed at the SLP news conference held at police headquarters on George Street, Freetown that QNET operating at Waterloo has been declared as a criminal enterprise.
DSP Edward Senise said on Monday 30th January 2023, following intelligence received of an online marketing operated by Qnet within Waterloo in the Western Rural District, a combined team of comprising of General Duty Police Criminal Investigations Department and personnel of the Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces conducted joint raids at two buildings occupied by Qnet within Deep Eye Water community.
He added that during the raids they joint operations team discovered three hundred (300) youth comprising of both Sierra Leonean and some foreign nationals including Guineans, Malians and Ivoirians who were arrested and brought forward for further investigations.
Senise said a search was also conducted by a team of CID’s and several relevant documents were discovered, adding that through investigations conducted twelve Qnet staff also arrested and are currently in custody helping the Police with further investigations.
