In a decisive operation against drug trafficking, security forces at the Fallah Checkpoint on Wednesday, November 20, 2024, apprehended Sierra Leonean national Magnus Jordan, a resident of Obama Junction in Regent, Freetown.
Jordan was intercepted aboard an Alie Abess bus en route to Kenema, carrying parcels of suspected Kush concealed inside a musical tape.
Authorities described the seizure as a significant success in their efforts to curb the movement of illegal substances. A subsequent search of Jordan’s belongings uncovered a digital scale and a skull driver, tools frequently linked to drug operations. During questioning, Jordan claimed he was engaging in drug-related activities for the first time and admitted that his intended destination was Kenema, where he planned to sell the illicit substances.
Jordan is currently detained at the Transnational Organized Crime Unit (TOCU) at the Regional Police Headquarters South in Bo as investigations continue to identify his network and potential accomplices.
Assistant Inspector General of Police Brima Kanneh, Regional Police Commander for the South, praised the vigilance of the checkpoint officers. “This arrest underscores the importance of rigorous search protocols at our checkpoints. They are our first line of defence against criminal activities. I commend the personnel for their professionalism and dedication to keeping our communities safe,” he said.
The Fallah Checkpoint, renowned for its effectiveness in intercepting illegal shipments, plays a pivotal role in disrupting the drug trade and other organized crimes in the region. Authorities have urged the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities, especially as the festive season approaches, to ensure peace and security nationwide.
This operation reflects the Sierra Leonean government’s commitment to combating drug trafficking and safeguarding its citizens from the dangers posed by illicit substances.
