The Regional Police Commander Freetown East, Dr. John Martin Senesi, has confirmed to press men that Police Constable 5614 Sawyer Williams commonly known as ‘Daddy’ has been dismissed from the Sierra Leone Police force.
Dr. Senesi last Wednesday 23 August 2023 statement made the statement whiles addressing journalists during a press conference hosted at the Police Headquarters, George Street, Freetown.
According to the Commander East Dr. Senesi, the dismissal of ex-police Swayer Williams came as a result of the raids that were conducted by the Anti-Drug Unit in the East Division and they arrested 9 suspect including Constable 5614 Sawyer Williams.
He continued that they arrested the ex-police officer with 72 wraps of Kush, three pairs of scissor and with a sum of money on Tuesday 22 August 2023, at the ex-police officer’s resident at Grafton.
He added that the ex-police officer had admitted that he used the drugs for his personnel consumption but after thorough investigations he confirmed that he also trade the drugs to raised money, so, based on that he said the CDID Headquarters have sent the drugs to the necessary authorities and it has been proven that the drugs they found is kush and as such the officer has been sacked and dismissed from the Police force, he confirmed.
He noted that the dismissal of the ex-police officer should serve as a clear example that they don’t have a sacred cow in the fight against drug in the country.
‘This should serve as a testament in our readiness and robust mentions in claiming down kush dealers and manufacturers, regardless of the individuals status in the society. We are not going to spare anybody in this fight,’ he said.
He assured the press that the SLP and other security agencies in the country will continue to put modalities in place to reinforce the law to the later.
According to Dr. Senesi, they have conducted series of raids across the East End. He mentioned that they have arrested four suspects and they have been charged to court, adding that Harbour Police Division conducted six raids; they arrested nine suspects of which eight of them have been charged to court.
He also confirmed that the Kissy Division conducted four raids, arrested 11 suspects and five of them have been charged to court. He said the Waterloo Police Division arrested 29 suspects and they have been charged to court.
‘Since I took over from April 1 to August 23 this year, we have arrested 64 suspects across the eastern part, and 28 of them have been charged to court, while 36 of them were released because of lack of sufficient evidence,’ he noted.
He assured the public that his region will continued to wage war on drug sellers and even the drug suppliers within the country.
