The Political Parties Regulation Commission has announced the publication of the final Internal Elections Rules and Regulations of the All People’s Congress party in the Sierra Leone Gazette.
According to a press release issued on 5 January 2026, the publication is in line with Section 25 of the Political Parties Act 2022, Act No. 25 of 2022. The Commission stated that the rules and regulations have been gazetted in Sierra Leone Gazette No. 104, Volume CLXVI, and will remain open to the public for a period of fourteen days.
The publication period commenced on Monday 5 January 2026 and will end on Tuesday 20 January 2026. During this time, members of the public and stakeholders are encouraged to take note of the contents of the published rules as they relate to the internal electoral processes of the APC party.
The Commission made it clear that it will not entertain any objections to the Internal Elections Rules and Regulations during or after the publication period. This clarification, according to the PPRC, is consistent with its mandate under the law and follows the conclusion of all required regulatory processes leading to the finalisation of the document.
The Internal Elections Rules and Regulations provide the framework that will guide the APC party in conducting its internal elections, including leadership selection and other related party activities. Such rules are intended to promote transparency, order, and compliance with national laws governing political parties in Sierra Leone.
The PPRC further informed the public that copies of the gazetted rules and regulations are available for purchase at the Sierra Leone Government Book Shop in Freetown. In addition, the document can be accessed through official platforms provided by the Commission.
Established to regulate the conduct and operations of registered political parties, the Political Parties Regulation Commission plays a key role in ensuring that political organisations adhere to democratic principles and statutory requirements. The publication of internal party rules in the Gazette forms part of broader efforts to strengthen accountability and credibility within the country’s multiparty democratic system.
The Commission urged political parties and the general public to remain guided by the law and to seek information only from official sources to avoid misinformation. It reaffirmed its commitment to fairness, transparency, and the effective regulation of political party activities across Sierra Leone.
The PPRC operates from its offices at OAU Drive, Tower Hill in Freetown and continues to engage stakeholders as part of its responsibility to promote peaceful and lawful political participation nationwide.
