As Sierra Leone assumes ECOWAS chairmanship, I urge President Bio to champion visionary leadership for peace, unity, justice and seize this pivotal moment to demonstrate exemplary leadership—both at home and across West Africa.
Upholding peace, democracy, and Human Rights
Our region faces grave threats, instability, unconstitutional power grabs, and widespread rights abuses. Sierra Leone must lead by example. ECOWAS needs principled leadership that defends democratic norms, safeguards civil liberties, and upholds the dignity of every citizen.
Fostering inclusive governance at home
True national cohesion begins with realistic inclusive governance. All Sierra Leoneans—regardless of political affiliation, tribe, or region must feel represented and valued. President Bio should engage in meaningful cross-political dialogue, heal divisions and rebuild trust in our institutions. Only through unity can we ensure lasting peace and sustainable development.
National Reconciliation:
I appeal to President Bio to act with statesmanship and ensure the safe, dignified, and unconditional return of former President Ernest Bai Koroma. This is not just about one man, it is about national healing. Such a gesture would strengthen Sierra Leone’s moral standing as ECOWAS Chair.
Justice must never be driven by vengeance, but by fairness, due process, and the greater good of our nation.
