President (Rtd.) Dr. Julius Maada Bio, has witnessed and represent the nation at the 80th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) and participate in the Annual g7+ Summit at the United Nations Headquarters in New York.

The summit brings together leaders of fragile and conflict-affected states to deliberate on shared challenges and explore pathways toward peace, resilience, and sustainable development. President Bio’s participation underscores Sierra Leone’s continued commitment to advancing its diplomatic influence and reinforcing its place as a constructive voice in global forums.

As the world grapples with pressing challenges ranging from conflict recovery and economic instability to climate change and the urgent need for ocean conservation, President Bio has positioned Sierra Leone as a champion of peace building and multilateral cooperation. His presence at the g7+ Summit is expected to highlight Sierra Leone’s experience in post-conflict recovery and its contributions toward shaping international strategies for development in fragile states.

President Bio has consistently demonstrated leadership in turning discussions into meaningful action, earning him the reputation of the “Talk and Do President.” Under his guidance, Sierra Leone has made strides in strengthening democratic governance, investing in human capital development, and prioritizing inclusive growth. At the same time, the government has remained vocal on the global stage about the importance of international solidarity in addressing transnational threats such as climate change and economic fragility.

The g7+ Summit provides a platform for Sierra Leone to showcase its journey of recovery, peace building, and institution building, while sharing lessons with other nations facing similar challenges. President Bio is expected to engage in high-level dialogues that emphasize the importance of collaboration in overcoming obstacles to sustainable development, particularly in fragile contexts.

Beyond the g7+ Summit, President Bio’s participation in the UNGA reflects his administration’s broader foreign policy objectives: advancing Sierra Leone’s voice on the international stage, deepening bilateral and multilateral partnerships, and advocating for global solutions that also benefit the most vulnerable states. His commitment to issues such as education, healthcare, and climate action continues to resonate in global discussions, positioning Sierra Leone as both a contributor and a beneficiary in the pursuit of shared prosperity.

Observers believe President Bio’s presence in New York will further elevate Sierra Leone’s diplomatic profile while reinforcing the country’s reputation as a reliable partner in peace building and global cooperation. The 80th UNGA, held under the theme of tackling global crises through unity and resilience, offers Sierra Leone a timely opportunity to reaffirm its commitment to multilateralism and to showcase the progress it has made despite historical challenges.

This year’s g7+ Summit is therefore more than a routine gathering; it represents a significant milestone in Sierra Leone’s diplomatic journey. By participating in these engagements, President Bio not only amplifies Sierra Leone’s voice but also strengthens its role in shaping international agendas on peace, resilience, and sustainable development.
