President Bio Unveils New Government Leadership Team

The Government of Sierra Leone has officially announced a series of key appointments to various ministerial and leadership positions. This decision, made by His Excellency, President Brigadier (Rtd.) Dr. Julius Maada Bio, was revealed on December 13, 2024, through a public notice issued by the State House.

The appointments, designed to strengthen government operations and ensure effective leadership, include notable figures in legal, administrative, and political capacities. The appointees are as follows:

  1. Mr. Alpha Sesay – Appointed as Attorney-General and Minister of Justice. This role positions him at the forefront of Sierra Leone’s legal and judicial system, guiding the government on legal affairs and justice administration.
  2. Mr. Morie Lengor – Designated as Minister of Internal Affairs. His responsibilities will include overseeing national security, public order, and internal governance.
  3. Ms. Sapieu Saccoh – Named as Deputy Minister of Justice. She will support the Attorney-General in enhancing the efficiency and fairness of the justice system.
  4. Mr. Ibrahim Jalloh – Appointed as Resident Minister for the Northern Province, tasked with coordinating government activities and ensuring regional development.
  5. Mr. Abu Abu Koroma – Assigned as Chairman of the Sierra Leone Public Transport Authority. His role will focus on improving public transportation infrastructure and services.
  6. Major General Christian Fayimba Marah – Appointed as Commissioner of the National Commission for Small Arms, responsible for regulating and monitoring small arms to promote security.
  7. Mr. Emmanuel K. Amara – Appointed Chairman of the Political Parties Regulation Commission (PPRC), charged with ensuring the smooth operation and compliance of political parties with national regulations.
  8. Mr. Lamina Vamboi – Designated as State Chief of Protocol and Ambassador-at-Large. He will oversee protocol matters and represent the country in diplomatic engagements.

These appointments reflect President Bio’s vision of reinforcing leadership across critical sectors to drive national development and maintain governance standards. The newly appointed officials are expected to bring expertise and dedication to their respective roles, contributing to Sierra Leone’s progress.

The announcement emphasizes the government’s commitment to transparency and efficiency, with the State House encouraging the public to support the appointees in their mandates.
