Freetown, Sierra Leone, Kumba Sesay, on 7 October, 2024, made her second appearance for further trial before Magistrate Santigie Bangura of Pademba Road Court No 2, on one count of Embezzlement contrary to section 17(b) of the Larceny Act 1916.
According to the charges sheet, the accused on a certain date in 13 July September 2024, at Freetown Road Lumley fraudulently embezzled the sum of Le 117,191 received by her from the account of Ishmael Foreign Exchange Bureau.
The Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Sorie Conteh and Assistance Superintendent (ASP), Deliah Wellington representing the Inspector General of Police in the matter between Kumba Sesay, and Mohamed Alieu Bah.
The prosecution made a progress, by bringing its witness in the matter to testify, as they led in Mohamed Alieu Bah.
The first Prosecution Witness, a Supervisor of Ishmeal Foreign Bureau, and heading one of its branches at Lumley, however, he recognized the accused as an employee of the institution whose salary runs effectively.
He added that the accused person is a cashier tagged with the responsibility for payment, and cash always disbursed at her desk.
In his explanation what transpired with the transactions in diverse date. The cash was being used by the accused person bit by bit, without his knowledge, because they started with 50,000 Leones the matter was sought for a short date.
Meanwhile, Magistrate Bangura adjourned the case to the 14th of October, 2024 for further proceedings.
