A former pupil of the Providence International High School has been remanded by Magistrate Marke Ngegba of the Pademba Road Court No.1, for allegedly stabbing his late teacher, 62, Gillis Edward Ola Johnson to death.
Mohamed Haroun Conteh, 17, was investigated and charged to court on a count charge of murder contrary to law.
As reported by the particulars of offence, on Saturday 11 March 2023, at No.54 Victoria Street in Freetown Western Area Urban, the late Mr Murdered Gillis Edward Ola Johnson.
Taking the oath and lead in his cross examination by Chief State Counsel, Umu Sumaray, the police witness, DPS 9546, Hamid Conteh, attached to the Scientific Support Unit, Crime Scene Office, Central Police Division. He said as a Crime Scene Officer, he is responsible to identify forensic and photographs scene of crimes.
He recalled 11 March 2023, he was on duty at Central Police Division when Assistant Superintendent of Police, Crime Minor, Marah Lahai instructed him to visit a crime scene at No.54 Victoria Street, Freetown.
On Arrival at the scene, he met Assistant Superintendent of Police, Lahai Marah and other police officers. He said he observed that the place the crime occurred was a dwelling house consist of two rooms and parlour.
“My Lord I saw a male figure lying on the floor with a cut on his throat”, he stated, and added that two blue and two red pens were stocked in his throat. The witness told the court that he took photos of the crime scene with a digital camera and the remains was later conveyed to the Connaught Teaching Hospital Mortuary for postmortem examination.
The police witness said the photos were later developed and printed into pictures he produced and tendered as exhibits. They were marked as exhibits B1 to 6.
AG Kamanda who is standing in loco for E.T. Koroma, requested for a date as instructed by the head of chamber for cross examination.
Magistrate Marke Ngegba adjourned the matter to 30 May 2023 and remanded the accused to the Male Correctional Service on Pademba Road in Freetown.
