As part of supporting the governments’s flagship program in Education, QCell-SL, the fastest growing telecommunications company in Sierra Leone, has pledged to support the top five students in Koindu by awarding each of them five thousand (Le 5,000) annually for three consecutive academic years.
Speaking at a stakeholders town hall held in Kissi Teng, koindu, Kailahun District, QCell Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Karthik Jayamani noted that since the company commenced operations in Sierra Leone, the people have been instrumental in its success.
He emphasized that their unwavering support has enabled QCell to achieve its goal of providing uninterrupted, quality telecommunications services to Sierra Leoneans across the country.
“In appreciation of your support toward the growth and development of the company, we have decided to award scholarships to the top five students from koindu. Each will receive Le 5,000 for three consecutive years, beginning with the 2025 academic year,” Jayamani announced.
He further acknowledged the strong relationship between QCell and the people of koindu, adding: “Since we started operations here, you have always stood by us, and we truly appreciate your support.”
Jayamani also encouraged non-subscribers to join the QCell network, assuring them that more exciting benefits are in store for customers.
In his remarks, Chief Minister David Moinina Sengeh commended QCell for engaging directly with the people of koindu and for upgrading network services in the district to now 4G.
He urged parents to motivate their children to study hard so they can seize the opportunity offered by QCell. “This is a big opportunity that I am sure no one wants to miss. To be among the five lucky winners, students must remain focused on their education and work diligently, that way they will be able to secure a place on QCell’s scholarship program for the next three academic years,” he said.
