To ease the burden of mobile money transaction to their customers, QCell Sierra Leone has last Thursday 4th May, 2023 launched its new service  called Qmoney “Kash Bok Service” at their headquarters on Wilkinson Road in Freetown.

According to Qcell,  Qmoney  is aim at  easing  the burden of mobile money transaction on their customers by making the said service  sim-less  by simply dialing *323# , which the company assured   is fast, safe, secure and convenient.

 

Chief Executive Officer QCell Sierra Leone, Jayamani Karthik described the day as significant to the company.

 

He told the media that the company started its operation since 2019 with 350 sites across the country in just three years.

 

“I am here to congratulate the financial sector of Q group,” he said, noting that the service will help the company break barriers and also acquire new customers.

 

Head of Qmoney, Alieu Njai,   disclosed that the long waited Qmoney is out, while expressed hope that the said service will stands the test of times, which he said justifies the wait is worthwhile.

 

He said that he is very delighted to be part of the mobile money launching owing to the fact that customers across the country have been yearning for   QCell money service.

 

“We have lot of experience in mobile money transaction, the knowledge and good practice will be transferred here’’ Njai said.

He reiterated that Qcell want their customers to trust them with their fund and also see the company as a bank and reliable partner.

 

Qmoney Manager furthered that for quite a number of months, they have been working behind the scene to identify   Qmoney product with an expansive and reliable agent network.

 

He continued that Qcell is   here for innovation and we believe in our products, services and network, which he said gives the company confidence of making a difference in the telecommunication market.

 

Njai noted that the Qcell mobile platform ‘Kash Boks’ is a safe place to keep money, assuring that the service is  convenient .

 

He therefore disclosed that all QCell customer sites have been fully trained on Qmoney.

 

Chief Founder and Officer Qmoney,  Nayan  Dhapt, from the financial point of view  expressed gratitude , according to him,   different countries across the world are leading a cashless lifestyle.

 

He went on,   transaction through mobile transfer is fast, safe and easy unlike physical transfers.

 

Director of Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU), David N. Borbor recalled that few years back, he met with a cross section of Qcell-SL staff. He commended the company for been very much in doing mobile money service.

 

He said his institution’s monitors and advice on money laundering and its related crimes, attributing the launch of the service as a dream come true.

 

Ralph Ansumana, Bank of Sierra Leone said that Qmoney SL is licensed to operate mobile money in Sierra Leone , disclosing  that Qmoney is a legal entity separate  from QCell.

According to him, the Bank of Sierra Leone is expecting Qmoney comply with all financial regulations especially the regular submission of returns to the bank.

“Within a one month or two, we are   expecting Qmoney to send their returns,” Ansumana said.

He told journalists and participants that Bank of Sierra Leone is fully supporting Qmoney in its financial inclusion drive.
