Lawyers representing Qnet have Thursday 2nd February 2023 disclosed that Qnet company does not offer traveling assistance.
Both lawyer Musa Pious Herman Sesay and lawyer Bestman D. Juah, Snr. last week spoke to journalists at the Sierra Palms Hotel Aberdeen, Freetown.
The disclaimer from both lawyers representing the company came after the Sierra Leone Police (SLP) declared Qnet as a criminal enterprise. According to the Police, they have been inundated with complainants from dozens of people across the country.
In recent times, the courts have also been inundated with complainants in respect of overseas travel assistance to people.
According to lawyer, Bestman D. Juah, Sr, stated emphatically that Qnet does not do travels or offer travel assistance, rather it is engaged in direct selling and E-commerce. On the other hand, he disclosed that the Company, offer personal care, Q-learn which he said concerns online education services for people who does not want to relocate overseas just to study. “We offer business courses, especially for those who wants to become entrepreneurs,” he disclosed.
He further noted that Qnet is not an employment company but have independent actors who are responsible for their own actions.
He added that those who are engaged in dubious act of tarnishing the good image of the company will be prosecuted in the court of law. He further clarifies that some of those who have been found wanting for such dubious act must be held liable for their act, adding that it does not necessarily for the Company. “Anybody who tells you that they will facilitate your travel overseas if a liar,” he revealed.
Lawyer Juah spoke highly of the Company noting that it operates in about 100 countries across the world and has been in operation in Sierra Leone since 2018.
In his own remarks, lawyer Pious Herman Sesay, told journalists that the press release from the Sierra Leone Police has not been directed at the Company but those who have been engaging in Criminal activities in the name of the company.
He noted that Qnet has never been sued; rather it is individuals who are engaged in such a criminal act. “Qnet does not represent here, and does not have staff in Sierra Leone, rather it has independent representative who help to market their products based on the ethical rules of the Company. “It is only facilitators who have constituted themselves into a corporate entity,” he said.
Lawyer Sesay remarked that they will fully be corporate with the SLP to clamp down these criminals. He added that those who will be found wanting will be prosecuted in a court of law.
