Following the heavy downpour of rain, thunder and lightning that was experienced on Tuesday 28 November 2023 in Freetown, the Management of Electricity Distribution and Supply Authority (EDSA) has in a press release dated 29 November 2023, informed the public that most radios and television stations may be challenged with transmission problem due to the unavailability power from the grid.
According to the release, this particular problem came as a result of the heavy rain that led to the destruction of EDSA’s network distribution infrastructure, including a 250KVA transformer that is responsible for supplying power to radios and television transmitter.
‘In that regard, most radios and television stations may be challenged with transmission problems due to the unavailability of power from the grid,’ part of the release stated.
It further stated that the Authority had commenced repair works on the damaged network including withdrawal of the faulty transformer and setting the stage for replacement with a new functional transformer.
It noted that EDSA’s authorities are sorry for the inconvenience of the situation it might course to the different radio and television stations and their wider audience.
The release assured that EDSA’s authority is doing everything to ensure that work is completed as soon as possible so that power will be restored.
In the light of that, the Africa Young Voice (AYV) had informed the general public in a public Notice that they are experiencing transmission difficulties because of the heavy downpour of rain on Tuesday 28th 2023.
