As part of the financial institution’s relentless Corporate Social Responsibility efforts, Rokel Commercial Bank (RCBank) is set to celebrate its Third Anniversary in promoting Eco-Tourism project in the country.
Done in partnership with a local Non-Governmental Organization, Keeping Hope Alive, the joint efforts planted trees along the Bo/Masiaka Highway three years ago, as part of the bank’s continual efforts at promoting biodiversity and Eco-Tourism in Sierra Leone.
he three-year-old baby-drive is aimed at reforesting deforested areas and communities in the country, via constant accelerations of tree plantings through the RCBank’s wise and prudent management approaches.
So far as part of activities lined up to mark the Third Anniversary of robust tree planting, Thursday 21 July 2022 has been slated by the RCBank to celebrate this remarkable achievements by the bank in the promotion of Eco-Tourism and tree planting in the country by the one and only “Bank of Choice”.
This, according to RCBank, is a move geared towards the mitigations of Climate Change, which is why RCBank has repositioned itself as leader in the financial service delivery sector to remain highly committed to its CSR.
The sprawling trees at Petifu Kangalop have not only come to accentuate these commitments but have equally placed RCBank as a worthy contributor to Government’s efforts at the promotion of responsible and sustainable environmental protections in Sierra Leone, the bank states.
As clearly evidenced in the aforementioned communities, the widely anticipated trees have grown to become imposing landmarks in areas that had completely lost its forest cover due to decades of deforestation.
For his part, the Managing Director of RCBank, Dr Walton Ekundayo Gilpin, expressed profound delight with overwhelming pride to see a project he launched three years ago becoming a colossal success.
“We believe that protecting our environment is as critical as anything we do to achieve a safe and prosperous nation,” Dr Walton Ekundayo Gilpin averred, saying: “We therefore encourage everyone out there to plant a tree and help save our planet.”
Acting Business Development and Marketing Manager Mariama Jajua believes RCBank’s investments in biodiversity and Eco-Tourism will serve as a wake-up call to all and sundry.
She said as we redefine our relationship with the environment, there is an existential relevance in protecting the environment, which are the threats posed by poor environmental management that must be altered by an equilibrium between “our daily needs and what nature provides”.
“Our tree planting project after Masiaka is just the beginning of many projects to complement Government’s efforts in the promotion of safe and healthy environment for Sierra Leone,” she reassured.
