The Managing Director of Rokel Commercial Bank, Dr. Walton Ekundayo Gilpin has disclosed plans by the bank to expand operations to Europe and in the the Sub-Region, as part of the financial institution’s drive to intensify customers access to finance beyond borders.
Dr Gilpin on Thursday 13th April 2023 made the disclosure at the League of African Development Students delegation who presented him a special citation of Honour Mnemonic Banner at RCBank headquarters, Siaka Stevens in Freetown.
Speaking to his guests Dr Gilpin said people mention RCBank anywhere in Sierra Leon. He said one would here that RCBank making giant strides to move beyond the confines of Sierra Leone.
“Excellent recapitalization of RCBank has been a strong reason for the bank that was on the verge of collapse, a bank that was crumbling under its weight, a bank everybody was running away from has now became a pillar to society’’. he reaffirmed.
The delegation is in Freetown under the distinguished patronage of President Julius Maada Bio to grace the official inauguration of the new student leadership of Rex Bonapha of the National Union of Sierra Leone Students.
For the delegation, President of all African Student Union, Osisiogu Osikenyi E. described Dr. Gilpin as an indefatigable Managing Director, a reason they are very proud to associate themselves with the bank and since their last arrival in 2019, Dr Gilpin confirmed that they have continue to show a keen interest in Rokel Commercial Bank.
He pointed out that at a time some other people were sitting busy to conspire, they were busy thinking about how they can promote and celebrate the achievements of Dr Gilpin and RCBank.
He observed that bad people thrive only when good people keep quiet, adding that they have come to say that they are very proud of the achievement they have continued to reckon with.
“We agree with the President of Sierra Leone, Dr Julius Maada Bio, in conferring you the Commander of the Order of Rokel award”, he acknowledged and adds that “We have also agreed with those who have listed you among the best 50 bankers in Africa, What it means is that even if you pick one MD in every country in Africa, not every country can make one CEO in that list,” he stated.
Prince Ogar Esq, president National Association of Nigeria Students diasporas, described Dr. Gilpin as a proactive Managing Director and one of the best currently in Africa.
He thanked the management of the financial institution for the receptive welcome and confirmed that the delegation has visited to identify itself with the institution that has been traversing the nooks and crannies of this country, changing the narrative of the banking industry.
The delegation comprises Osisiogou Osikenyi E. President of the All–African Students’ Union Rex Bonapha, President National Association of Sierra Leone students, Prince Ogar Esq, President National Association of Nigeria Student Diaspora, Beloved Imobiye and others.
