The Sierra Leone Medical Laboratory Association has ended a 3-day Annual General Meeting between the 18-20 April, 2024 at the Connaught Nursing school in Freetown.
This is in recognition of the Laboratory week that is celebrated globally between the 14 to the 20th.
The first day of the event was a meeting that involved all members and various speakers were present within the Median Laboratory realm including the Deputy Minister 1 of the Ministry of Health and Sanitation -MOHS. Prof (Dr) Charles Senessie.
Other speakers who graced the program included, Emile Koroma Esq (Guest speaker) Director of HR MOHS
Prof Sahr Gevao National manager blood bank services, Prof Foday Sahr National Public Health Agency, Prof Isatta Wurie
Dr Zikan Koroma, national manager for clinical laboratories and Prof Babatunde Duduyemi.
The second day was a session of effective discussions and scientific symposium where several strategies and issues were raised that will see the success of the association as part of boosting and serving as a complementary body to the ministry of health.
The final day of the event incorporated a national congress and election which was meant to strengthen the executive structure of the association interms of managerial roles and position in seeing the effective run of the association.
It was reported that, Senior MLSO Arthur Badorie Calvin Garber eon the seat of the Presidency, Senior MLSO Samuel Sorie Vice President ,Senior MLSO Saidu Sefoi Secretary General, MLSO Edward Tamba Mafinda National Public Relations Officer, MLSO Umar M Jah National Organizing Secretary, Senior MLSO Ahmed Foray Samba National Auditor respectively.
The regional representatives include Western Urban – Mr. Paul Jusufu Amara,Western Rural Mr Abdul Bendu, North East – Mr. Mohamed Alie Kamara, Southern Region Madam Joyce Baindu Lamin, Eastern Region Mr Mark Hassan Samba and North West Region Mr Santigie Kanu.
This was viewed as a great move to having their structures in place interms of making necessary inputs to the development of the health sector.
