The Sierra Leone National Female U-20 commonly known as the Sierra Queens has won this year’s RamKay/SLFA women’s Day Tournament in Kenema.
The Final match took place on Friday the 8 March 2024 at the Kenema City Field.
Sierra Queens defeated their counterpart the Liberia National Female U-20 team in the final by two goals to nil in a fascinating encounter. The Sierra Queens outstanding performance in the Women’s Day Cup made them to clinch this all important tournament against a strong and resilience Liberia team.
In the first half of played, the Sierra Leone’s national female team was leading Liberia U-20 by 1 goal to nil with a goal scored in the 38 minutes of play by Jariatu S. Kamara. And the host double their lead late in the second half of play in the 92 minutes of play with a goal scored by Adama Kargbo that eventually sealed the victory of Sierra Leone National Female U-20 team in Kenema.
It could be recalled that the National Female U-20 won their first match by a thrilling 2 goals to one and the sensational performance from Kumba Z. Brima who scored two good goals help the Sierra Queens to secure their three points.
Also, they team had an impressive performance in their second match they defeated Liberia National Female U-20 in Kenema and they eventually went to win the cup!
The victory is a huge round of applause for the Sierra Queens for their hard work, determination, and skill throughout the tournament and they have surely made the nation proud.
Madam Haja Ramatulai Kamara who doubles as the owner of RAM Kamara Female and men team in Bo grace the International Women’s Football competition in Kenema on the 8th of March to mark the celebration of the International Women’s day. The Competition started way back in March 2022 of which first edition took place in Freetown at the Football Academy Kingtom. The titled the Competition RAM KAY WOMEN’S TROPHY. The whole Idea of the Competition is to keep them girls in their best form said by Madam Kamara.
In brief statement after the match with some Journalist in Kenema, Madam Kamara Promised that she’s putting all her efforts to make sure those Female players would earn the respect they deserve in Sports not only in Football and other sporting discipline.
She concluded by saying, that is why she’s putting all her efforts within her power so that things can improve in the best interests of the female players, Coaches, female Referees and Management of all female teams within the country.
