Sierra Leone’s Minister of Planning and Economic Development, Kenyeh Barlay, met with the World Food Programme’s (WFP) Country Director to Sierra Leone, Yvonne Forsen, on April 15th, 2024.
The crucial meeting focused on strengthening collaboration and exploring new avenues to enhance food security and development initiatives within the country.
Sierraloaded learnt that the discussions surrounded topics such as strengthening collaboration, reviewing food security reports, discussing flagship programs like Feed Salone, highlighting WFP’s projects on school feeding, monitoring the implementation of Sierra Leone’s development plan, exploring opportunities for home-grown institutional feeding, and the Development Cooperation Framework.
The meeting and discussion also rollout commitment of Sierra Leone and the WFP to address food insecurity, reduce poverty, and foster sustainable development. Through ongoing collaboration and strategic partnerships, both parties aim to make positive and lasting impacts on the lives of Sierra Leoneans.
The minister viewed this as significant step as part of her plans in mapping out developmental plans and activities for the country and how they can collaborate with many other institutions and organisations in the county and beyond to have the lives of Sierra Leoneans in a better condition.
