The Secretary to the President, Dr. Julius F. Sandy, has reconvened the Steering Committee on Public Sector with the responsibility of identifying reform challenges, and providing strategic directions for the Public Sector environment.

The objective of reconvening the Steering Committee on PSR is to critically identify reform challenges and gaps and ensure timely and influential intervention for the effective implementation of recommendations proffered and approved by the SCPSR.

In his inaugural address, the Secretary to President who doubles as Chairman for the Steering Committee said it is their responsibility to deliberate diligently on issues that are brought before them to ensure that whatever decisions are disagreed on or agreed upon are taken out of their best frame of mind without fear or favour.

Senior Programme Analyst, PSRU, Mr. Idrissa Koroma, presented the Management and Functional Review Report of the National Disaster Management Agency (NDMA) that was conducted by the review team. The report was debated and subsequently approved by the Steering Committee.

The MFR report will be presented to Cabinet for final approval, which makes it mandatory for NDMA to implement all the recommendations contained in the report. The SCPSR is the highest decision-making body for all public sector reform programmes and is composed of twenty-two members.
