The release underscores the democratic process that has culminated in the election of Prime Minister Starmer is a testament to the values that underpin our shared commitment to democratic governance. As a nation that has traversed the path to democracy and experienced the transformative power of elections, Sierra Leone stands in solidarity with the people of the United Kingdom as they entrust their leadership to Prime Minister Starmer.

His Excellency thanked the outgone Prime Minister, the Right Honourable Rishi Sunak MP, for his leadership in strengthening the ties between Sierra Leone and United Kingdom during his tenure. He noted that Sierra Leone recognises the importance of strong and constructive relationships between nations that are founded on mutual respect, shared values, and a commitment to democracy, development and global peace. According to him, he is confident that under Prime Minister Starmer’s leadership, the longstanding ties between Sierra Leone and the United States will continue to flourish.

“I pay tribute to the people of the united Kingdom, whose participation in the electoral process has reaffirmed the strength and resilience of British democracy. I extend my best wishes to Prime Minister Starmer as he assumes his new role, and I offer my cooperation in the pursuit of our common goals. I look forward to the opportunity to work together and further enhance the partnership between our countries,” President Bio stated.
