The Sierra Leone National U20 female team has defeated Mauritania National Female U20 by 2:0 at the WAFU Female U20 Tournament in Senegal.
The Sierra Leone U20 Women’s National Team, also known as the Shooting Starlets, took on Mauritania on Tuesday 21 May 2024 at the ongoing WAFU U20 Women’s Tournament being held in Thiès, Senegal.
The young talents are eager to showcase their abilities on the regional stage and they did just that their opening match by securing a victory for Sierra Leone.
The team, which arrived in Senegal with high hopes was well determined to make a mark in the competition and they have showcased their footballing ability at WAFU tournament.
The match kicked off promptly at 7:00 at the Stade Lat Dior, Thies City in Senegal, with both teams making concerted efforts to score in the first half. Despite numerous opportunities for both sides, the scoreline remained goalless on to the 40th minutes when Kadiatu Kamara opened the scoring in the 41th minute of played. And also in the 43th minutes of played Juliet Brima double the lead for Sierra Leone National Female U20 side with a long range goal.
Going into the second half of play, the second half began energetically, with both teams demonstrating a strong desire to score. Despite several close attempts, the goalkeepers on either end stood firm. At the end Sierra Leone National Female U20 secured a 2-0 victory against their counterpart.
Sierra Leone’s sensational Kadiatu Musa Kamara was named Woman of the Match in the U20’s impressive 2:0 win over Mauritania on Tuesday in the WAFU Female U20 Tournament in Senegal!
Kadiatu’s outstanding performance and dedication on the pitch were key to their victory.
The tournament runs from May 20th to May 30th, 2024, and promises to be a fierce competition featuring teams from across West Africa’s Zone A.
The Shooting Starlets are placed in Group B alongside Mauritania, Guinea, and Liberia.
