On Monday, 6th November 2023, Sierra Leone’s Chief Minister Dr. David Moinina Sengeh and the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Corporation, Honourable Timothy Musa Kabba arrived in Istanbul, Türkiye while on transit to America and Saudi Arabia respectively.
The Honourable Minister of Foreign Affairs was accompanied by Mr. Steven Levey the Deputy Director Africa Division of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Corporation.
The Chief Minister and Honourable Kabba were received at the Istanbul airport by senior members of staff of the Embassy of Sierra Leone in Türkiye.
Amongst the delegates who received these dignitaries were the Former Director-General and Ambassador-at-Large and Deputy Head of Mission, Ambassador Paul A. S. Minah and the Minister Plenipotentiary and Head of Chancery, Mr. Franklyn Brima Fawundu. Also present to provide due protocol to the Honourable Minister was the Honorary Consul of Sierra Leone to Turkey, Mrs. Mine Antlar and the Liaison and Protocol Officer Mr. Suliman Gbondo
Honourable Timothy Musa Kabba was on his way to Riyadh, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for the 5th Arab-Africa Summit which is due to be held from the 8th to 11th of November 2023. The Africa-Arab Summit came into existence because of one of the Nine (9) strategic partnerships by the African Union with states and organisations with the purpose of establishing cooperation for mutual benefits.
Participants at the summit will discuss issues around security, political coordination, and economic development and investment cooperation to address issues which are termed as “existential issues.”
The theme of this year’s summit is ‘A Prosperous Partnership”
