Detective Police Constable, Hassan Bangura marked as Prosecution Witness Ten (PW 10) attached to the Scientific Scene of Crime Unit yesterday- Thursday 2nd March 2023 testified in court at the ongoing Skye Bank Manager murder trial presided over by Magistrate Mark Ngegba of the Pademba Road Court No 1 in Freetown.
The witness recalled Thursday 20th October 2022, saying that a team of investigators headed by Inspector Kasegbama arrived at Criminal Investigations Department (CID) headquarter and informed him to witness a postmortem examination which he honoured at the Connaught hospital mortuary in Freetown.
Constable Bangura told the court that at the said mortuary remains of late Sinnah Kargbo was displayed on the postmortem slab in the presence of the investigator, the pathologist and relatives of the deceased.
He told the court that during the process of the postmortem a relative Idrissa Kamara identified the remains to Dr. Owizz Koroma before the autopsy commenced, adding that during the process he took series of photographs, printed and kept them in a photographic album in a custody at the CID headquarter.
Lead Defence lawyer Roland Wright, cross examining said that the witness cannot recall the total number of people present at the scene of postmortem but confirmed that there were two more doctors including Dr. Kojo Carew, the assistant to Dr. Owizz and both doctors were in constant bitter discussion.
Defence lawyer Wright asked the witness whether he heard Dr. Owizz saying ‘he had dreamt about the autopsy the witness said he did not hear that.
He was also asked about his role at the scene of crime as an officer whether the mortuary was a scene where the crime was committed, the witness said no.
Magistrate Ngegba refused bail and remanded the accused to the Male Correctional Centre and adjourned the matter to 9th March 2023.
