Mohamed Asmieu Bah, Deputy Director General of the Sierra Leone Broadcasting Corporation (SLBC), has strongly criticized Mustapha M.K. Sesay over what he described as misleading allegations aimed at discrediting an association Sesay himself aspires to lead.
In a response posted on social media, Bah expressed disappointment in Sesay’s actions, stating that the photos shared were misrepresentative of the reality on the ground. According to Bah, one of the rooms depicted in the images is a storage facility, which Sesay may not have been aware of.
“You can’t discredit an association that you want to lead,” Bah asserted, calling on Sesay to seek clarification before making public accusations.
Addressing concerns over financial management, Bah explained that the 2020 subvention was properly accounted for, with financial records available to justify expenditures. He emphasized that government funds were not recklessly spent, rejecting any notion of financial mismanagement.
“These are government funds; you don’t spend them like drunken sailors, and we are not drunken sailors,” Bah stated firmly.
Furthermore, Bah revealed that the association had already initiated plans to refurbish its secretariat before Sesay’s post. He dismissed any claims that the improvements were prompted by Sesay’s actions, urging responsible engagement rather than public attacks.
“If you don’t know, ask, and we shall explain. But to come to Facebook and make spurious allegations is hitting below the belt,” Bah concluded.
The exchange highlights tensions within the association, as stakeholders debate leadership aspirations issues.
