The Director General of the Sierra Leone Correctional Service, Mr. Ahmed Turay has on Monday the 17th April 2023 returned to work after several months of medical treatments. The DG, about a year ago fell prey to an ailment which necessitated his travelling out of the country for medical attention.
When his subordinates heard the news of the return to work, most of them were moved with pity and worried about how the affairs of the Department would be steered in his absence.
Attending his first Consultative and Management Meeting (CMM), Mr. Turay got a warm reception from his colleagues and people were thankful to God for his recovery from the illness.
Mr. Turay expressed huge thanks to everyone for holding the forte in his absence. He voiced praises about the Deputy Director General, Col. David Ngaujah “for having ensured that no security incidence occurred” while he was away.
He added that “Col. Ngaujah is a hardworking man who never grows tired of pursuing things that will bring laurels to the SLCS”.
Unlike what some others would have done in a situation where the boss is away for this long, the DG kept speaking, Col. Ngaujah never for once did anything to portray himself as the DG.
“Anywhere he went, he always referred to me as his boss and that he had only come to lend support to the Department. Even while I was overseas in sick bed, he always telephoned me to seek direction and clarity. This kind of man is hard to find,” Mr. Turay stressed.
Ending his remarks, Mr. Turay encouraged everyone to keep up the good work they had been doing and throw every support behind him to propel the Department to greater heights.
