Despite fruitful preparations for the SLFA FA cup Final that held on Saturday 4th May 2024 at the Port Loko Town Field, the most anticipated SLFA FA cup Final ended in a chaotic and disarray manner at the Port Loko playing field.
The competition that began at the District level and featured over two hundred teams, has been highly regarded by sports personalities. However, the grand final between Bo Rangers and East End Lions was marred by unexpected events that left fans and officials stunned.
During the match, a man dressed in red entered the pitch and started performing incantations, allegedly in an attempt to use black magic during the game. At the same time, another man dressed in blue entered to counter the incantations. This unusual display, combined with the arrival of Sierra Leone Football Association’s President, Thomas Daddy Brima, heightened tensions among the crowd and triggered a major disturbance.
What should have been a celebration of football turned into a tragic spectacle, revealing deep-seated problems in officiating, security, and fan behavior. The events at the final call into question the management and integrity of the Sierra Leone Football Association’s tournaments, demanding immediate attention and reform.
This year’s final however between Bo Rangers and East Lions FC would have been a thrilling encounter but it was ended in disarray at the Northern part of the country.
This final couldn’t just only be about the trophy, but the winner will proudly represent Sierra Leone in the 2024/25 CAF Confederations Cup.
This particular final was a mouth-watering encounter where Bo Rangers faced one of the top-tire teams in the league East End Lions Football Club.
To foster more preparations for their team, the East End Lions squad arrived in Port Loko early and the vibrant people of Port Loko welcomed the team with open arms as they geared up for their highly anticipated final that ended in unfriendly atmosphere. The East End Lions Supporters lined the streets, waving with encouragement as the team arrived in the town.
