The President of the Sierra Leone Football Association SLFA Babadi Kamara has held his first official meeting with the newly constituted SLFA Organising Committee, marking an important step in strengthening the management and delivery of domestic football competitions.
The meeting focused mainly on strategic planning and coordination for the FA Cup, which President Kamara described as the committee’s immediate and most urgent responsibility. He stressed the need for early preparation, clear timelines, and effective coordination to ensure the competition is well organised and successfully delivered.
President Kamara reminded members that the FA Cup is one of the most prestigious competitions in the country and must be managed with the highest level of professionalism. He encouraged the committee to adopt transparent processes and work closely with relevant stakeholders to enhance the credibility and appeal of the tournament.
Beyond the FA Cup, the meeting also outlined the wider responsibilities of the Organising Committee within the SLFA structure. President Kamara noted that the committee plays a critical role in overseeing and advising on all competitions and major events organised by the SLFA. These include the Men’s and Women’s Premier League, Division One and Division Two leagues, playoffs, and other key football activities.
He explained that while the Executive Committee takes final decisions, the Organising Committee is expected to provide technical guidance, practical solutions, and informed recommendations to improve the planning and execution of competitions. According to him, strong collaboration between both bodies is essential for the smooth running of football across all levels.
President Kamara further emphasised the importance of teamwork and accountability, urging committee members to approach their duties with dedication and integrity. He said effective coordination among organisers, clubs, match officials, and other partners is vital to avoid challenges that could disrupt competitions.
Members of the Organising Committee welcomed the opportunity to engage with the SLFA president and expressed their commitment to delivering on their mandate. They pledged to work collectively to raise organisational standards and contribute to the growth of football in Sierra Leone.
The meeting also provided a platform for members to share initial ideas on improving competition structures, scheduling, and logistics. These discussions, according to the SLFA, will form the basis for further planning as preparations for the FA Cup progress.
The first engagement between President Kamara and the Organising Committee signals a renewed focus on structured planning and professionalism within the SLFA. With the FA Cup set as the immediate priority, the association hopes to deliver a well organised competition while laying the foundation for improved management of all domestic football events in the seasons ahead.
