Somerset, New Jersey, USA, Saturday, August, 2025

The Deputy National Chairman of the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP), Robert Kondema Kargbo, delivered an inspiring keynote address at the SLPP North America New Jersey Chapter’s Annual Cookout. The well-attended event brought together party members, supporters, and distinguished guests from across the diaspora, reaffirming their unity, solidarity, and unwavering commitment to the SLPP’s vision under the banner of ‘One Country, One People.’

In his address, Mr. Kargbo lauded the transformative leadership of H.E. Dr. Julius Maada Bio, President of Sierra Leone and current ECOWAS Chairman, while celebrating SLPP’s progress in youth empowerment and democratic inclusivity.

He proudly noted that, for the first time in the party’s history, the National Delegates’ Conference elected an unprecedented number of young leaders into top positions, including himself as the youngest-ever National Deputy Chairman. He described this achievement as the dawn of a ‘new era’ for the SLPP, characterized by unity, integrity, and a long-term vision to sustain governance beyond 2028.

He further recognized the immense contributions of diaspora chapters, particularly those in North America, the UK & I, and emerging chapters around the world. Mr. Kargbo commended their unwavering support both in opposition and now in governance, while calling on members to redouble their efforts ahead of the 2028 elections. He underscored the need for mobilizing resources, strengthening networks, and fostering business partnerships between diaspora members and Sierra Leoneans at home to create jobs and empower the youth.

He assured members that under his youthful and vibrant leadership, he would work closely with his Boss, the National Chairman Jimmy Batilo Songa to strengthen teamwork, foster inclusivity, and promote transparency in the party’s operations. By building a responsive and people-centered Secretariat, he said, the SLPP will inspire greater participation and loyalty among its members both at home and abroad.

In a moment of pride and celebration, the SLPP-NA New Jersey Chapter Executive presented Mr. Kargbo with a certificate of recognition, congratulating him on his election as National Deputy Chairman at the just-concluded National Delegates Conference. The presentation was met with resounding applause, symbolizing the diaspora’s endorsement of his leadership and their confidence in his ability to inject renewed energy and vision into the party’s executive.

The evening concluded with renewed energy and optimism, as Mr. Kargbo’s message deeply resonated with attendees. His address was not only a political message but also a call to hope, unity, and shared responsibility. As the sun set over Somerset, the atmosphere was charged with purpose, a reminder that the SLPP’s greatest strength lies in its people, at home and abroad, working together to shape a brighter future for Sierra Leone.
