The woeful dismantling of the National Grand Coalition NGC party caused by the sly President Bio is a sad day for multi-party democracy in Sierra Leone.
.
President Julius Maada Bio’s failed SLPP administration has finally succeeded in disintegrating the opposition NGC party, previously dubbed the ‘Third Force’ formed six years ago to neutralise the two main political parties SLPP and the APC. Unfortunately for multi-party democracy, the NGC party is nearing its extinction thanks to the failed SLPP regime. The sly political destruction of opposition parties by President Bio has always been his agenda since 2018 when the SLPP came to power. Within a week, President Bio smashed the tiny brain of Dr Kandeh Kolleh Yumkella aka KKY to abandon his beloved NGC party to rejoin his original SLPP party as the running mate for the 2023 presidential election thereby replacing Dr Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh.
Yumkella has visibly shown ingratitude to the NGC party that gave him the platform to become a member of parliament for Kychom in Kambia District in the last four and half years. Following the shameful switchover of KKY to the SLPP party, the NGC party started disintegrating. The indefatigable Chairman and Leader of the NGC Dr Dennis Bright has suddenly but unsurprisingly announced his resignation with immediate effect from the NGC primarily for family reasons. But insiders say Dr Dennis Bright’s resignation is because of Yumkella’s betrayal and recalcitrance toward the NGC and for jumping ship to rejoin the SLPP. Two other NGC heavyweights including Mr Alan Luke and Arthur Pearce followed suit by resigning. (Photo: Yumkella has betrayed Sierra Leoneans like his boss President Bio, right).
The latest two resignations came within hours of Dr Dennis Bright’s departure and two high-profile NGC officials bade farewell to the NGC much to the disappointment and shock of the NGC supporters and members in Sierra Leone and in the Diaspora. The ruling SLPP party officials and supporters are obviously delighted that the NGC party is coming to the end of its short existence. Observers believe a vital SLPP agenda has been achieved. President Bio’s bad habits had started very early in his reign and had succeeded in dismantling the Alliance Democratic Party ADP through the ridiculous rape charge allegations that landed the ADP leader and 2018 presidential flag bearer Mr Mohamed Kamarainba Mansaray in prison for nearly four years now.
It is an open secret that President Bio first infiltrated the ADP party through Kamarainba’s 2018 running mate Haja Isata Abdulai-Kamara who was bribed with the Resident Minister North-West job by President Bio in order to betray her boss Kamarainba. She is believed to have stabbed her boss Kamarainba in the back. The dream of a one-party state government in Sierra Leone is part and parcel of President Bio’s secret manifesto. Since 2018, President Bio has tried heaven and earth to also dismantle the main opposition APC party by using various methods from bogus lawsuits in courts to the arbitrary arrests and detentions of APC officials, to the extra-judicial killings of APC supporters, and so on and so forth but without success. Below is Dr Dennis Bright’s letter of resignation.
But the corrupt SLPP regime has failed woefully in destroying the APC party and this is due to the fact that the APC is a solid institution unlike the ADP and the NGC parties, which the Bio presidency is still determined to carry out its destruction agenda. Thanks to the APC Grassroots supporters who stood firm behind the old APC hierarchy namely Alhaji Osman Foday Yansaneh, Alhaji Minkailu Mansaray, and the former President Ernest Bai Koroma, the APC party is thoroughly protected despite President Bio’s ongoing undermining of multi-party democracy. It is sad to see the NGC party, like the ADP, facing annihilation by President Bio. Sierra Leoneans are very happy and proud to have a true son of the country Dr Dennis Bright who fought hard to defend democracy in Sierra Leone.

The Secretary-General,
National Grand Coalition,
No.14 Naimbana Street,
Freetown.
Dear Sir,
RE: RESIGNATION LETTER
I write to resign from my position as Regional Chairman Western Area of the National Grand Coalition (NGC) Political Party & as a member of the National Grand Coalition (NGC) Political Party. The reasons for this decision in no way stem from grudges or malice but from personal and professional values, which I have held in high esteem throughout my years in politics. I strongly believe that an Alliance or Political Partnership with the Sierra Leone Peoples Party (SLPP) at this particular time will kill public trust and respect that has long been an element of admiration for the NGC and there is a great possibility of such agreement to put an end to the sustainability of the NGC after June 2023 Elections. I once communicated my position through the Leadership of our revered party and Dr Kandeh Kolleh Yumkella (Parliamentary Leader- NGC) that the decision a Political Party like NGC must make if we were to go into an Alliance must not be for the benefit of any individual or small group of persons, but for the survivability of NGC thus our slogan- ‘U touch wan, U touch all’.
Consequently, I have kept a sacred place within my heart for issues pertaining to NGC but I cannot sit by quietly and watch the party being dragged to its demise as it is seen to be done hence I want to make very clear to the NGC Party and the public that based on Principles which I hold so dear and cannot compromise, especially at such a time in Sierra Leonean Politics, I will ask kindly that I will be honoured the request of an amicable separation, effective, Immediately. I have had wonderful relationships with members of the NGC and the KKY Movement since 2013 to date but today, 10 (ten) years after, I am saying goodbye to a political party in whose belief I rested my very life and are wishing each and every member the very best with politics in the National Grand Coalition (NGC) Political Party.
I remain.
Yours Faithfully,
Arthur E. Pearce
