Sons and daughters of Lower Bambara Chiefdom, Kenema District will meet on Saturday 19th April 2025 to air their differences and address them in the best interest of the chiefdom.
The recent violence that erupted in Lower Bambara Chiefdom, Kenema District during the conduct of Lower Level Elections for various positions for the Sierra Leone Peoples Party (SLPP) has caused the people of Lower Bambara Chiefdom to call on stakeholders and all patriotic sons and daughters of the chiefdom to put aside their differences, turn a new page and put the interest and development of the chiefdom above all else.
During the violent elections, by supporters of both Mohamed Mustapha and Sheku Farma, some people were seriously wounded and hospitalized.
The major problem badly affected the people is the deplorable road network that needs urgent attention before the rains otherwise the cost of living would increase exponentially in addition to the fact that the road network would be cut off in the middle of the raining season.
They made the passionate appeal ahead of this weekend’s emergency meeting of stakeholders scheduled for 19th April 2025 in Panguma. The people also called on all indigenes of Lower Bambara Chiefdom to attend the meeting, make their voices heard, forget about the past, bury the hatchet and reconcile reiterating that there is no place like home.
According to the people, there is so much animosity, jealousy, gossiping and other vices among the stakeholders in the chiefdom that have adversely contributed to its backwardness lamenting that if this trend continues then there is no future for Lower Bambara Chiefdom.
Discussions between the Paramount Chief and the Member of Parliament who are loggerheads highlight as example, the bitter rift between the Paramount Chief and the Member of Parliament who has accused the MP of disrespect, gossiping him and bringing investors to the chiefdom without his knowledge and consent, one of the topicals issues that will be addressed.
A reliable source in the chiefdom indicates that even some prominent families, especially those from polygamous homes, are not talking to each other over long-standing disputes for family properties, jealously and power struggles.
The Chairman of the Lower Bambara Descendants Association, Mr. Fyeston Bockary has communicated that this weekend’s gathering is in response to the recent unacceptable and uncalled for political violence in Panguma and Tongo that threatened the peaceful coexistence and unity of the people as well as the renowned reputation of the community.
Another major concern bordering the people is long overdue elections for vacant positions such as Section Chief of Bonya, Sei Lowoma, Kamboma and Foindu for which they are appealing to the Senior District Officer in Kenema, Augustine Fogbei, who has done the revision exercise, to fast track the process in the interest of peace, cordial harmony, peaceful coexistence and development.
“As Chairman of the Lower Bambara Descendants Association, I have emphasized that this meeting is mandatory for all stakeholders to attend and not optional,” the Chairman emphasized.
