A high-level delegation from South Korea met with President Julius Maada Bio at State House on Monday, signaling a strengthening of relations between the two nations. The visit focused on exploring avenues for collaboration in sectors critical to Sierra Leone’s development, including energy, agriculture, infrastructure, health, and vocational training.
During the meeting, both parties reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing Government-to-Government cooperation. President Bio emphasized the importance of leveraging South Korea’s expertise in technology and industrialization to drive Sierra Leone’s socio-economic transformation.
To bolster bilateral trade and investment, President Bio announced the appointment of Mr. Sung Jun Kim as Sierra Leone’s Special Envoy for Trade and Investment to South Korea. The appointment is expected to facilitate stronger trade ties, attract investments, and promote strategic partnerships.
Accepting the role, Mr. Kim pledged to work diligently to fulfill President Bio’s vision for Sierra Leone’s economic growth. “I really appreciate your trust in me, and I will do my best to achieve your dream for developing Sierra Leone,” he stated.
