Speaker Introduces New Clerk of Parliament

The Speaker of Parliament, Hon. Segepoh Solomon  Thomas Esq., on Monday, 13/10/2025, officially announced and introduced Mr. Karmoh K. Conteh to the plenary as the new Clerk of Parliament, following his recent appointment by President Julius Maada Bio, in line with provisions inscribed in the 1991 Constitution of Sierra Leone.

Addressing the Hon. Members of Parliament, Speaker Thomas recognised and praised Mr. Conteh for his experience in parliamentary work, and highlighted his previous roles as Director of the Department of Legislative Services and had also worked with multiple committees as a Committee Clerk. He also heaped praises on the new Clerk of Parliament for his astute and proven track records in light of performance, effectiveness, and efficiency in service delivery.

As Clerk, he underscored that Mr. Conteh will do the following:

  1. Attend all parliamentary sittings
  2. Serve as principal advisor to Mr. Speaker and the Members of Parliament
  3. Take notes on agreements and decisions passed by Parliament

Following his appointment, his knowledge and expertise will hugely enhance and support parliamentary functions and decision-making.

The Members of Parliament welcomed Mr. Conteh with a resounding applause to his new role and expressed optimism that his contributions will strengthen the performance of Parliament in our democratic polity.
