The sixth week of the Sierra Leone Premier League provided fans with drama, surprises, and a shift in fortunes for two of the country’s historic clubs. The week ended with a “tale of two former giants,” as Mighty Blackpool and East End Lions swapped places at the bottom of the table in a remarkable turn of events.
East End Lions recorded their first win of the season, lifting themselves out of the relegation zone on goal difference. The win provided a much-needed morale boost for the club and its supporters, who have been patiently waiting for their team to find form. On the other hand, Mighty Blackpool slipped into precarious territory, raising concerns about their campaign if they fail to regain momentum in the coming weeks.
Bhantal Football Club held high-flying Bai Bureh Warriors to a hard-fought draw, maintaining the Warriors’ unbeaten run while denying them maximum points. Meanwhile, Bo Rangers FC played a pulsating 1-1 draw with Kallon FC at the Southern Arena in a match that showcased two contrasting halves. Despite strong efforts from both sides, neither could claim victory, leaving fans anticipating their next encounters with great interest.
The standout performance of the week came from Star Sport Academy, who dominated Bullom Stars to move into joint top position alongside Bai Bureh Warriors and FC Kallon, all tied on 14 points. With only alphabetical order separating the three, Star Sport Academy’s title credentials are now under the spotlight. The team’s upcoming Christmas fixtures against Bai Bureh Warriors, Bhantal, Bo Rangers, and FC Kallon will be decisive in determining whether they are genuine title contenders or pretenders.
Looking ahead, the league continues to deliver exciting matchups. Bo Rangers FC is scheduled to face Bai Bureh Warriors in Port Loko on Saturday, a clash that promises intensity and could significantly impact the top half of the table.
