You can agree with me that at the tail end of 2019, the Peoples’ Republic of China precisely in the municipality of Wuhan woke up to a novel Coronavirus. Little or less attention was paid at the initial stage. Many just sat down observing whilst the Coronavirus gains grounds in cities and towns across China. What was considered as a “passing enemy was speedily becoming the “enemy with many faces.”
Attempts were even made to politicize the virus by some world leaders. The leadership of the world’s economy was referring to the novel Coronavirus as “Chinese Virus.”
The Covid-19 as it was later named by the World Health Organization (WHO) gets scientists worried as to its trend of development. The specification as to where it originated is yet to be determined by the WHO and allies. Covid-19 visible signs and symptoms are taken a new trend now and then.
The world was informed that the signs and symptoms associated with the Coronavirus have to do with headache, persistent coughing, sneezing, fever, and hence, at the end of the day, attacks lungs leading to shortness of breath and finally death, as the case maybe.
Initially, we were also informed that deaths connected with the Coronavirus is prevalence on those above the ages of 60 whose immune systems are considered weak to battle the dreadful Coronavirus.
Moments later, we have to come realized that the virus kills all and sundry and man’s best defense is his immune system and safe hygiene practices.
Research has proven that the Coronavirus spreads through hand shake, hugging; droplets from talking, coughing, sneezing, etc. Other schools of thought have said that the virus is air-borne and once affected there are possible symptoms of loss of taste and smell and the like.
From all what I have gathered, we are yet to come to terms with the designated signs and symptoms of Covid-19. Scientists are still on the “discovery stage” and I am yet to see a “sustainable vaccine or the way forward,” in the fight against the novel Coronavirus.
Measures like face masks, social distance, hand washing are positive strides. But you can agree with me that the fight against this “Enemy with Many Faces,” has to be change of attitude and a positive mindset.
WHO have made it clear that there are those with the virus who are asymptomatic and this for me, is the bone of contention. This in actual sense is that the enemy can be me or you.
Economies and infrastructures across the world are crumbling under the claws of the Coronavirus pandemic. Is this an apocalypse?
