The Minister of Tourism and Cultural Affairs, Memunatu Pratt has paid an on-the-spot visit to the Levuma beach where she applauded the laudable beach cleaning initiative by philanthropist, Mohamed Billy Musa.
The purpose of her visit was to ascertain the level of beach cleaning exercise that was pioneered by Mohamed Billy Musa who has taken upon himself to pay youths of the community to clean the beach, a stride is aimed at complementing the ministry’s effort in ensuring that beaches are always cleaned. On arrival at Levuma Beach, the minister was greeted and welcomed by the Chief, Headman and jubilant youths who registered their profound appreciations for strides made in the development of the tourism sector.
In his short remarks, philanthropist Musa said with the support of the ministry, which he has, Levuma beach will be the envy of the other beaches. He committed to work with community stakeholders in providing the necessary amenities to Levuma community.
Madam Pratt in her statement, applauded Musa for his desire and thoughtfulness in complementing the ministry’s effort to embark on the cleaning of Levuma beach. She said Levuma beach is a critical infrastructure and of the country’s prime sites, hence the more reason it was worthy to giving it a facelift.
She said to sustain the cleaning of the beach, they have to do the same engineering that propel other beaches and also engage city council on clearing of waste at the beach to sensitise the community not to dump waste on the beach. She commended Musa for his patriotism and desire to transform the beach into an entertainment spot. She on behalf of the President Julius Maada Bio congratulated Musa for his wonderful initiative and reassured all the ministry and its agencies support in showcasing what he is doing.
In a related development, Madam Pratt visited Shalima’s enormous edifice situated at the front of Levuma beach. She commended Shalima for investing in an infrastructure that has lot of world class tourism facilities. She committed to include the facility as part of the packages of places for tourists to visit.
