The Ministry of Tourism and Cultural Affairs presented a robust case for increased staffing and strategic human resource planning at the Annual Manpower Hearing hosted by the Human Resource Management Office (HRMO) on Friday, 6 September 2024. The hearing, held at the Civil Service Training College, focused on aligning workforce needs with national development priorities under the theme “Effective Human Resource Planning to Meet the Goals of the Five Big Game Changers.”

Leading the presentation, Deputy Secretary Sahr Philip Morsay highlighted the Ministry’s critical achievements, including the successful completion of the Management and Functional Review and the launch of the National Tourism Development Master Plan. Mr. Morsay also showcased the Ministry’s contribution to environmental sustainability by planting 300 trees and emphasized human capital development initiatives, such as training 800 women in entrepreneurship and vocational skills.

Mr. Morsay further advocated filling critical staffing gaps within the Ministry to enhance its capacity to meet strategic objectives. He also addressed challenges, including limited funding and the need to partner with external agencies to preserve vital tourist sites.
