The Sierra Leone Police (SLP) have launched a comprehensive investigation following the tragic deaths of two young children at the National Pentecostal Primary School in Freetown. The tragic incident has left the local community in shock and mourning, prompting authorities to act swiftly to uncover the circumstances surrounding the deaths.
According to a press statement issued by the SLP, the incident took place Tuesday, March 18, 2025, when three children—Abdul Aziz Yusuf Kamara (3), Patrick Hassan Kamara (2), and Adama Sarah Sesay (3)—were reported missing from the school between 12:00 and 13:00 hours. The children, who were all students of the school, were last seen around midday, but their whereabouts became unknown for several hours.
Later that evening, around 23:00 hours, a disturbing discovery was made. The bodies of Abdul Aziz and Patrick were found inside a faulty black Toyota Sport Edition vehicle (registration number AJA 671), which was parked within the school compound. The vehicle’s location raised immediate questions, and the discovery of the children’s bodies inside the car has deepened the mystery surrounding the incident.
Fortunately, Adama Sarah Sesay was found alive. She was discovered alongside her deceased friends but had fortunately survived the ordeal. Adama was immediately rushed to a medical facility for treatment, where she continues to receive care. Her family has expressed their relief that she is alive, though they remain devastated by the loss of her two friends.
In the aftermath of the incident, the SLP initiated an immediate investigation into the tragic event. Preliminary findings from a post-mortem examination, conducted on March 20, confirmed that Abdul Aziz and Patrick had died from suffocation, with no visible signs of physical assault or injury. The revelation has raised more questions about the circumstances of the children’s deaths, especially in relation to the condition of the vehicle and how they may have become trapped inside.
As part of their investigation, the SLP has taken five individuals into custody, including the Bishop of the Pentecostal Church. The police are seeking to gather all relevant information to determine how the children ended up in the vehicle and why they were left there for such a prolonged period. The involvement of the religious leader in the investigation has added another layer of complexity to the case, as the school and the church are closely linked.
The SLP has called for patience and calm from the public as they work to uncover the full details of what transpired. They have also asked for the community to refrain from speculation, emphasizing the importance of allowing the investigation to proceed without interference or assumptions.
The tragedy has sent shockwaves through the local community; and residents are left grappling with the loss of two innocent children. The school, which has been a cornerstone of the community, is now at the center of a painful and tragic event that has left parents, teachers, and students in a state of grief and disbelief.
As the investigation continues, the SLP has pledged to ensure that justice is served, and the full truth of the circumstances surrounding the children’s deaths will be made clear.
For now, the community remains in mourning, holding out hope that the authorities will uncover the answers that are needed to bring closure to this heartbreaking incident.
