Mohamed Khali Turay and Alhassan Kamara made their first appearance before Magistrate Peter Gogra of Pademba Road Court No.6 in Freetown on five count charges to wit trespass, assault, wounding, robbery and threatening language.As recorded in their case file, on a date unknown in August 2022 they unlawfully entered and remain in the premises of Ibrahim Sorie Kossay after having been required by the said Ibrahim to depart therefrom on count two unlawfully assault and beat the complainant-Ibrahim Sorie Kossay on count two the unlawfully wounded him with intent and caused him grievous bodily harm, on count four the accused persons robbed Ibrahim Sorie Kossay of one wrist watch worth Five Hundred United States Dollars ($500), one twenty-four (24) carats gold neck lace, worth One Thousand United States Dollars ($1,800) one Iphone 12 Pro max, worth One Thousand Three Hundred United States Dollars ($1,300) and Two Thousand Dollars fiscal cash. On count five the accused persons used threatening words against Ibrahim Sorie Kossay with intent to provoke him to commit a breach of the peace.
The charges were read and explained to the accused persons and they pleaded not guilty. Magistrate Gogra granted the accused persons bail in the sum of Fifty Million Leones.
Counsel representing the accused persons H. Kamara applied for bail for and on behalf of the accused that they are Sierra Leoneans resident within the jurisdiction and that they will not interfere with prosecution witness or witnesses they will not jump bail. He said that they have reliable sureties who are willing and ready to go into recognizance on their behalf. He made his application pursuant to Section 79 2 of the Criminal Procedure Act No.32 of 1965.
Meanwhile Magistrate Gogra granted the accused persons bail in the sum of Fifty Million Leones with two sureties in like sum sureties to be resident in the Western Area and their sureties should produce valid identity cards depicting his/her address in Freetown. He said one surety should to be employed bail to be approved by the Bench matter stood down until 19th October 2022.
