TSC Deputy Director Takes Leave of Kenema

The Deputy Director of the Teaching Service Commission (TSC) assigned to the Kenema office has officially bid farewell to staff and education stakeholders after years of dedicated service.

In his parting message, the Deputy Director TSC Tamba Bockarie catalogued the major achievements of the commission during his tenure. He highlighted the successful recruitment and replacement of teachers across the district, a process that significantly strengthened human resource capacity in schools and helped reduce teacher shortages.

He further pointed to the verification exercise carried out in 2022 down to 2025, which ensured that only qualified and deserving teachers were on the government payroll.  He also stated the

many teachers were reassessed and promoted  and thousands  benefited from in-service training and mentorship to equip their skills in teaching methodologies.

Deputy Director TSC Tamba S Bockarie said teachers were promoted to their various ranks which serves as a motivation in the teaching profession

The exercise not only weeded out ghost teachers but also paved the way for improved accountability and transparency within the education sector.

The outgoing Deputy Director commended staff of the office for their cooperation and resilience, noting that the achievements were the result of teamwork and a shared commitment to the vision of the Teaching Service Commission. He encouraged them to continue upholding professionalism and integrity in the discharge of their duties.

 

Education stakeholders in Kenema including the Sierra Leone Teachers Union SLTU lauded his leadership, describing him as a dedicated public servant who left behind a legacy of reforms and efficiency in teacher management.

The Teaching Service Commission remains central to government’s efforts in improving quality education nationwide, with ongoing reforms focused on teacher recruitment, training, and professional development.
