Two middle-aged men, Idrissa Koroma and Mohamed Issa Jalloh have been sent on remand at Male Correctional Center on Pademba Road for alleged fraud: obtaining money by false pretence, conspiracy and receiving contrary to law.
The matter was prosecuted by the police Legal Affairs Officer, D.S. P. Christiana Bull.
During her questioning on Thursday 27 July 2023, the compliant Abubakarr Jalloh acknowledged that he knows the two accused and continued that he was called by the accused via mobile phone that they have a house situated at Wilberforce community for sale.
Abubakarr Jalloh furthered that they later met and negotiated the cost of the said house.
“The accused persons tagged the said house at One Hundred and Ninety Thousand United States Dollars, (190,000 USD) which I started paying in trenches,” Abubakarr told the court.
He informed the hearing they told him that the said property is owned by one Mr. Eric Amen of Wilberforce community.
The document for the said property was earlier inspected and approved by lawyer Pa Momoh Fofanah before it was tendered in court as an exhibit.
According to the complainant, he paid the sum of One Hundred Thousand Dollars to Idrissa Koroma who happened to be one of the accuse person for the said property.
Lawyer Hon Hindolo Geavo representing the accused persons requested for a bail to be granted to his clients. The presiding Magistrate granted stiff bail conditions to the accuse persons.
A short adjourned date was proposed by Magistrate Mac- Gaybah.
In another development, a case of alleged killing by a school pupil of the Providence Secondary School, Waterloo came up in the Freetown Magistrate court that was also presided over by magistrate Mac-Gaybah.
Testimony by the police prosecution continue to pinpoint that the pupil who is the accuse person in the said matter reported himself at the Aberdeen police station, Western police station and later transferred to the Criminal Investigation Department, where the lad was finally charged to court on the allegation of murder.
The said matter was prosecuted by state counsel lawyer Umu Sumaray while Lawyer Teddy P. Koroma is defending the accused person.
