Magistrate Santigie Bangura of Pademba Road Court No.3 has sent Alpha Koroma, a carpenter and Joseph Haffner, a stone miner to prison for committing larceny in a dwelling house.
The two accused persons made their second appearance before the court on two count charges to wit conspiracy to commit a crime contrary to law and Burglary and Larceny contrary to Section 25(1) and 13(a) of the Larceny Act 1916.
According to the particulars of offence, on the 17th March 2023, at Gloucester in the Mountain Rural District, conspired together with other persons unknown to commit a crime.
Count two, the accused on a specific place and date break and entered into the dwelling house of one Ibrahim Conteh and stole two IPhone S mobile Phones, one A32 itel mobile phone, one black rope hand bag, one sonny thirty two inches plasma-Television , a DVD player, all valued at Fifteen thousand six Hundred and Fifty Old Leones (Le15,650).
Leading the prosecution witness, Superintendent of Police, Sorie Conteh told the court that he is attached to Mountain Division, IMATT in Freetown.
According to the police prosecutor, he recognized both the accused persons in the dock and also the complaint in the said matter.
He continued that he vividly recalled 17th March 2023, while on duty at the station.
He told the court that an alleged case was assigned to him for investigation.
I suddenly left the station to visit the scene of crime to confirmed and returned together with the complainant and witness, police prosecutor told the court.
Sup. Conteh narrated that on 21st March 2023, he conducted a search warrant at the premises of the first accused Alpha Koroma and discovered one thirty two inches plasma television and one DVD player which the complainant identified to be his properties.
He told the court that both accused were cautioned, questioned and recorded on 21st March of 2023.
After statement were obtained from the witness, statements from both accused persons tendered in court to form part of the court records.
According to the witness, exhibits discovered were handed over to the complainant.
The accused persons were not legally represented in the said matter.
Meanwhile, Magistrate Bangura refused bail and sent both accused person to the Male Correctional Center.
The matter adjoined to 18th May 2023.
