The U.S Embassy in Sierra Leone is very serious about the implementation of the 84 recommendations of the Tripartite Committee, as indicated today by a Facebook post from the Embassy.
This commitment by the Embassy is in sharp contrast to the motivation of the opposition All People’s Congress ( APC), which stands to benefit from the implementation. The APC however is lukewarm about the Tripartite in which it participated; otherwise it should have been exerting more pressure on the SLPP Government than the U.S. Embassy.
When was the last time you heard the APC Executive or the former members of the Tripartite Committee talk about the 84 recommendations, let alone pressurize the Maada Bio SLPP Government to implement them. Both agendas should be pursued scrupulously and frantically, but all we see the APC doing is prepare for 2028. We wonder why the international community is no longer listening to us or taking us seriously. If strangers have to cry more than you at your own family funeral, who will take you seriously?
APC is failing to realize that without the full implementation of the 84 recommendations of the Tripartite Committee, it is just wasting the party’s time, the executives ‘ own time and everybody’s time preparing for 2028. The APC know that Maada Bio has become their sowei through their own lack of backbone (sadly enough: This is what happens when people loss their focus and direction. Bio is a cowardly imbecile but he is prevailing over this particular APC because it is very unserious. It is not that Bio is great. He is not .But the APC has become so moribund that even a toothless bulldog like Maada Bio is prevailing over them). Shame.
Bio will repeat the same criminality he performed in 2023 if the APC contest in 2028 without first ensuring electoral justice, which includes full implementation of the 84 recommendations. Idiots who accused some of us of backing this executive or some of its members do not know the difference between their arms and their elbows. My only concern has always been depending on lies that ECOMOG was coming to remove Maada Bio , which any sensible person knew was not going to happen. For all the insults they rained on us, ECOWAS never came, let alone remove Bio, leaving the peddlers of that nonsensical lie and belief wiping eggs off their faces.
For Bio to be removed, we never need an outside force. APC itself can do it through People’s power. APC only needs to be serious to press home our demands for the full implementation of the 84 recommendations, which Bio cannot successfully do because he will have to cede power. Some of the recommendations are a trap for Bio. If this present executive really mobilizes the grassroots and we fight to have the 84 recommendations implemented, Bio will have no plans to stand on.
There is however something to cheer over. With APC losing its focus and direction, we must thank God for the U.S. Embassy in Sierra Leone. We have criticized them intensely for some policies that seemed to favour and empower Bio, but it is now obvious that they remain fully engaged and determined that the 84 recommendations must be implemented fully before there will be any further progress in having the MCC go into force.
Today’s tweet by the U.S Embassy is very encouraging and laudable. If read carefully, it will be seen that the Embassy is making it clear to the SLPP and the criminal Maada Bio that unless they fully implement the 84 recommendations, no MCC for them.
Educated people like vice – President Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh just cannot understand diplomatic language or the nuances of American diplomacy. It is very clear that the preconditions given by the U.S. Congress are still in force and until they are met, no dice.
The APC needs to become serious like the U.S. Embassy to put the SLPP under intense and sustained pressures to implement fully the 84 recommendations.
