The United Nation Development Programme (UNDP), through the Ministry of Youth Affairs has on Monday 3rd July 2023 doles out funding for the procurement of fifty (50) outboard engines for one thousand (1000) youth in active fishing.
The said funding targeted seven coastal districts of Kambia, Port-Loko, Pujehun, Bonthe, Moyamba, Western Rural and Western Urban.
According to source, Four Leones Six Hundred and Nineteen Thousand and Forty Leones (NL.4, 619,840.00) were given to the Government of Sierra Leone by the United Nation Development Program (UNDP).
The Government had already disbursed 38% advance payment and 40% project payment amounting to three million Two Hundred and Thirty-Three Thousand Eight Hundred and Eight Leones (OL3,233, 808) for the procurement of the said outboard engines.
The project is in realization of President Bio’s manifesto commitment of 2018 that seeks to create space for youth direct involvement in Agriculture, Livestock, Aquaculture and Value Chain.
