The Vice President of Sierra Leone has concluded two days working visits to Pujehun and Moyamba Districts respectively from Saturday 27 to Monday 29th May, 2023. On Saturday 27th May, 2023 two thermal plant generators were presented to the people of Pujehun District at the town football field in Pujehun. Similar thermal plant generators were recently handedover to the people of Moyamba for the electrification of the district. Addressing the people in the two districts, Vice President Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh referred to electricity as a core component of national development. He reiterated that the provision of electricity to the two districts headquarter towns will change the lives of the people economically and socially. He assured residents of the two towns that President Julius Maada Bio will soon commission the light to supply power on a sustainable basis, while admonishing the people to use the light with care after the commissioning.

Vice President Jalloh told the people that he was in the districts together with Cabinet Ministers and other dignitaries to launch President Bio’s re-election campaigns. He used the occasion to explain to the people on the fulfilment of President Bio’s 2018 manifesto promises in the areas of education, health, electricity, road, water among others. He said that the Free Quality Education initiated by the New Direction Government has given opportunity for enrolment of more girls in schools than ever before. He elaborated on the reduction of maternal and infant mortality rate in Sierra Leone, adding that the Bio’s Presidency will do more to reduce maternal and infant mortality to zero level.

Dr Jalloh called on all believers in the New Direction agenda of President Bio to ensure there is no run-off in the June 24, 2023 election. He also encouraged his party supporters to turn out in numbers on polling day as was demonstrated during the voter registration exercise to vote for President Bio massively. He noted that massive voter turnout is a clear message of thanks and appreciation to President Bio for the Free Quality Education, Mabang Bridge, road, and light among other development activities.

Vice President Jalloh encouraged first time voters to take the lead in the campaign exercise, and embarked on door-to-door campaign that will bring eligible voters in various communities. He said that bringing in new people to the party will lead to massive votes for the party for Members of Parliament, Councilors and Chairmen/Mayors, and President Bio.

Alhaji Kanja Sesay, Minister of Energy in his statement said that poles have been erected, cables strings, and stationing of transformers completed. He added that the thermal plant generators will address the generation component and demand of the electrification project. He appealed to residents to secure meters to ensure their houses/homes are connected to the grid in the township. The two towns are part of the district headquarters to benefit from the Seven District Electrification Project.

Dr David Sengeh, Minister of Basic and Senior Secondary Education enlightened the people on the developments in the education sector since 2018. He catalogued the construction of six new schools, fifty-one early learning centers, recruitment of five hundred teachers with pin codes, and the approval of twenty-three School Principals in Pujehun District. He informed the people about the replication of similar projects in other districts of Sierra Leone since the New Direction Government cares about every Sierra Leonean and district. He encourage those present at the meeting to serve as agent of change and take the information on development in the education sector as a message to convince absentees to vote resoundingly according to the Pujehun District stakeholders target of 98% votes with no run-off for President Bio.

Dr Prince Alex Harding, National Chairman and Campaign Manager of the Sierra Leone Peoples Party in his address to the people of Moyamba explained about improvement in the education sector, citing the lead taken by girls in public examination since President Bio launched the Free Quality Education in Sierra Leone and the reduction of rape.
