In response, Dr Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh outlined a catalogue of the achievements of the SLPP government since 2018.

He spoke about the transformational changes that have taken place in the country under the astute leadership of President Dr Julius Maada Bio.

According to the Hon. VP, when they took over in 2018, maternal mortality was 1,078 per 100,000. They were able to reduce it to 334 within five years.

He added that infants mortality has gone down substantially since the SLPP government came to power in April 2018.

He spoke about the introduction of the Free Quality Schools Education program and the School Feeding program. He noted that, the introduction of the Free Quality Schools Education program has led to the increase in the number of girls that go to school. He clarified that the government is paying for every child taking public exams including NPSE and WASSCE as long as they attend public schools.

Dr Juldeh Jalloh spoke about the Gender Equality Act which gives women a 30% quota in Parliament, Cabinet and other key government departments and agencies. VP Juldeh Jalloh noted that, some young women in government continue to perform exceptionally well in their different areas of assignment.

According to the Honorable Vice President, the SLPP government has increased access to electricity from 16% in 2018 to 34%. He outlined a series of investments the government is painstakingly undertaking in the energy sector to make it fit for purpose.

Dr Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh spoke about how the credibility level of the country has gone up since the SLPP government swept to power in 2018. “Now people across the world are listening to us…They are talking to us…Some of them are even learning from us…This is as a result of the credible leadership President Bio continues to provide since we came to power in 2018”, VP Juldeh Jalloh said.

He mentioned the recent approval (for the second time) by the Trump administration in the United States of America of the US$480Million MCC Compact to modernize the energy infrastructure in Sierra Leone. He described the US Government decision as “a vote of confidence” in the credible leadership of President Julius Maada Bio.

The Honorable Vice President spoke eloquently about the Big 5 Game Changer as the SLPP blueprint for the development of Sierra Leone in the next five years.

He spoke specifically about the flagship program of the government-The Feed Salone program. The Honorable VP noted that, the government has increased budgetary allocation to the Agricultural sector for the country to grow more foodstuffs like rice, cassava, sweet potatoes to be able to feed itself in the next five years.

The Hon. VP explained that, importation of essential commodities like rice, onions, vegetable oil has substantially reduced under the SLPP government.

Dr Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh explained that, Sierra Leone now exports vegetable cooking oil, onions, sardines, bathing soap, butter to some neighboring West African countries.

He added that Sierra Leone is now very stable, open for investments and it is attracting huge foreign direct investments than ever before.

The Hon. VP added that, they have reviewed the mining laws, established agencies like the National Investments Board in order to make investing in Sierra Leone a seamless process.

According to the Hon. VP, they have recruited more teachers, more doctors, more nurses and more health workers since 2018.

According to Dr Juldeh Jalloh, President Bio is determined to use his current position as Chairman of ECOWAS to revive security cooperation in the West African subregion.

VP Dr Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh promised that the SLPP government is determined, more than ever before, to do more for the people of Sierra Leone. He added that, the SLPP government is “a government for the people”.

At the end of his excellent and eloquent address to a jam-packed hall, the Hon. VP asked: “Don’t you think we deserve to continue to do more for our country?”.

The VP was given a standing ovation for his detailed and thoughtful address to the Sierra Leonean community resident in the United Kingdom.
