The Western Area Football Association (WAFA) has in a press release dated Tuesday 30 January 2024, informed the public that they have suspended the ongoing 2023/2024 Central One Football Association (Cofa) league until further notice.
According to the release the suspension came as a result of a social media recording allegedly to have voiced by the Director of Competition of Cofa, Mohamed Yapo Sillah, and it noted that the audio containing disrespectful accusation against the authorities SLFA and WAFA and that of Bambara Town press release.
‘This decision came as a result of a social media recording allegedly to have voiced by your Director of Competition of, Yapo Sillah, containing disrespectful accusation against the authorities SLFA and WAFA and that of Bambara Town press release,’ part of the press release stated.
It continued that such recording and press release making rounds on social media have the propensity to put the game into disrepute and unrest, it noted that the organizers of COFA are thereby directed to suspend the league with immediate effect.
