The Sierra Leone Football Association’s (SLFA) Head of Media and Marketing, Ibrahim Kamara; and Media and Marketing Officer, Lamin Tarawallie, have successfully completed the WAFU Zone A Media and Marketing Workshop held in Conakry, Guinea from Friday, April 4 to Saturday, April 5, 2025.

The two-day training, hosted at the luxurious Noom Hotel, brought together media and marketing officers from the nine member nations of WAFU Zone A – Sierra Leone, Gambia, Mauritania, Cape Verde, Senegal, Guinea, Liberia, Mali, and host nation Guinea.

Designed to enhance the capacity of media professionals within the region, the workshop focused on their roles and responsibilities in CAF and WAFU Media Operations, with particular emphasis on match management. The sessions combined both theoretical and practical exercises, enabling participants to better understand the CAF and WAFU media framework and apply best practices in real match-day scenarios.

The training was facilitated by renowned CAF Media and Marketing experts, Mondher Chaouchi from Tunisia, and Alieu Goloko from Senegal, who guided the participants through key areas such as media coordination, press protocols, and content creation under CAF guidelines.

During the closing ceremony, the Chief Executive Officer of WAFU Zone A, Mapathe Gaye, congratulated all attendees on their active participation and successful completion of the workshop, describing the group as “the first generation of media officers in the region,” adding that WAFU would ensure their expertise is utilized in future tournaments.

SLFA continues to prioritize the professional development of its personnel and remains committed to aligning with continental standards in the promotion and administration of football in Sierra Leone.
