Rokel Commercial Bank Customers in Waterloo and environs would no longer have to take the sometimes arduous trip into the Freetown Municipality to carry out their banking transactions.
The Bank has today, 18th August 2025 opened a fully functional branch to serve customers with new and exciting products and services in the sprawling cosmopolitan headquarters of the Western Area Rural District. This historic milestone has been described by many ordinary residents as a major development for an area that holds a huge population with limited or no access to financial services.
The new Waterloo branch opens barely a month after another branch was opened at Cline Town, eastern Freetown – cementing the Bank’s credentials as the fastest growing financial institution in Sierra Leone. And in the estimation of the Director of Banking Supervision, Sajoh Bah, Rokel Commercial Bank has simply become a major trailblazer in the development of the banking industry in Sierra Leone. Bah called on the Waterloo community to patronize the bank as a truly indigenous bank.
RCBank Managing Director, Dr Walton Ekundayo Gilpin re-emphasized his management’s determination to pursue growth and market dominance. He encouraged the Waterloo community to own the Bank which has a people centered focus.
The opening ceremony also attracted the RCBank Board Chairman John Sumaila, board member, Rev Archer Campbell, Representatives from the Armed Forces Training Center (AFTC) and the Western Rural Council.
