Thirty-three – 33 members of the All People’s Congress (APC) from Constituency 129, Wards 438 and 439, West District have in a letter dated 8 August 2023, addressed to the National Secretary General, Lansana Dumbuya Esq, disassociate themselves from the anti-party action of Hon. Alfred Ayodele Thompson. The letter pointed out that the reason for their decision was due to the lawmaker’s defiance of the party’s boycott of governance resolution.
They explained that the decision of Hon. Alfred A. Thompson has nothing to do with Constituency 129, Wards 438 and 439 executives, adding that the decision of the opposition MP is personal and does not represent the wishes and aspirations of the electorates.
“In light of the above, henceforth the executives have no business to do with Hon. Thompson in any shape or form”, the letter reads.
The letter furthered that the executives of the said constituency, wards and grassroots will not avail themselves whenever meetings are called and any other party activities.
It could be recalled that Hon. Thompson on Monday 7 August made a surprising appearance in the well of parliament and subscribed to the oath of office which qualifies him as an APC MP in parliament.
He was handed over of the 1991 Constitution of Sierra Leone and the Standing Order by the Clerk of Parliament, Hon. Paran Tarawally, amid the APC party ongoing boycott stance.
