United States House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s provocative visit to Taiwan recently has undoubtedly heightened tensions in the China-US ties and cross-Straits relations, as Beijing hit back with strong countermeasures in response to her “reckless and irresponsible” move.
Now the American media wants to shift the blame to China for trying to destabilize world peace and create tensions across the Asia continent.
This is utter rubbish as before the visit China and US took an over two hour phone call conversation between President Xi and Biden, during which President Xi said the US should honour the one-China principle and implement the three joint communiqués both in word and in deed. President Biden also reiterated that the one-China policy of the US has not changed and will not change, and that the US does not support “Taiwan independence”…
Even President Biden in a public message said that it was not the right time for her to visit But because Pelosi wanted to fulfill her ego, she sneaked into Taiwan for a short visit.
This visit is one that has been condemned across the world even in the United States where the New York Times, The Economist and Washington Post all blasted Pelosi for going against the military advice.
China’s responses, including military drills and sanctions are for the purpose of safeguarding national sovereignty and territorial integrity, as Taiwan is an inalienable part of its territory. More importantly, they will help to uphold international law and the basic norms governing international relations, which are challenged by US hegemony.
China demonstrated the strong resolve and ability to safeguard national sovereignty and territorial integrity, anti-China politicians using Taiwan to contain China will be nothing more than “a mantis trying to stop a chariot,” as the Chinese proverb goes.
The people in Taiwan must learn from the US past as they will always push you to war and they will abandon you when you need them most. The ongoing war in Ukraine is a perfect example as US and NATO pushed Ukraine into the war and now they have abandoned them.
China has always attached great importance to world peace over the years and yielded rich fruits, whereas the United States often has not been doing what China has been doing because China is fighting to build a harmonious world whilst the United States is dividing the world.
The latest demonstration that anti-China politicians in the United States are using Taiwan as a pawn to strategically contain China will not succeed. The Chinese people and international community have long seen the sinister intentions of Pelosi and the others, which are bound to be shattered.
Looking through the past century, under the leadership of the Communist Party of China (CPC), China has neither backed down in the face of oppression and bullying by foreign powers nor given in to external interference. Any attempt to obstruct China’s complete reunification, delay or even block the historical process of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation will only make the Chinese people more united. Looking to the future, China will tackle all the obstacles with the utmost determination, confidence and endurance.
History will prove that the despicable actions taken by anti-China politicians and attempts to rely on the United States to seek “Taiwan independence” are against the general trend of history.
China upholds international law and the basic norms governing international relations, especially the norm of noninterference, the most important international norm, as stipulated in the United Nations Charter.
So for condemning China on their stance after the irresponsible visit is something that is the usual America who says they respect the ‘One China Policy’ and the next time they will say Taiwan has the right to independence.
The world should be fully aware of the nature of US hegemony and work in unity to struggle against it in order to promote world peace and development.
